We would like to warmly welcome you to Thornleigh Educate Together National School’s website.  You will clearly see from this website the sense of ‘child-centeredness’ and ‘community’ which is core to the effective and efficient running of our school.

On entering through our school door you will immediately get the sense of a happy, hard working school.  This has come about as a result of staff, parents and the Board of Management working together collaboratively and democratically.  Since opening our doors in September of 2008 we have grown from a 2 teacher school to a 14 teacher school in less than 3 years.

Here we thoroughly embrace Howard Gardner’s Theory of multiple intelligences – in which he rightly espouses that children learn in many different ways.  At Thornleigh we use different teaching methodologies to ensure that your child will always receive the best classroom based teaching through the adoption of this theory.  Through the use of this theory each teacher will bring out your child’s strongest academic and holistic potential.  We value the uniqueness of each individual child.

Each child is taught the Revised Curriculum as laid down by the Department of Education and Skills.  They are taught the following subjects throughout their eight years here with us at Thornleigh Educate Together, English, Gaeilge, Mathematics, SESE(history, geography, science), Music, Drama, Physical Education, SPHE, Art and The Learn Together Programme which encompasses the four strands of – Ethics and the Environment, Moral and Spirituality, Belief Systems and Equality and Justice.

During the school year children also benefit from classes taught by trained coaches from our local sports club.  They are also exposed to classes from an expert Drama Teacher.
