Multicultural Week

From May 24th to May 28th we had Multicultural Week. This was an action packed week with numerous activities. Parents, guardians, community members and friends were invited to join us in our celebrations.

We had a Parent's Showcase. Parents came into classes and share traditions and cultures with pupils. Some parents taught us songs and rhymes, others taught us playground games. They told us all about different countries, the food they ate, the language the spoke. We really enjoyed it and learnt a lot!! Thank you parents for all your help. You were fantastic!

Drum Nature Workshop was held on Thursday the 27th. The school was transformed school into an exciting rhythm orchestra. With the aid of clear and simple facilitation, each class got the opportunity to play different drums and percussion instruments from around the world and create collective rhythms together. The emphasis was very much hands-on and everyone was able to participate (even our little brothers and sisters). We explored musical areas such as dynamics, pitch, tempo, timbre, improvisation and also learned about what it means to play in an ensemble. There was also the opportunity for us to have a go at conducting and leading the whole class in a rhythm.

We had small ones, big ones and even giant ones! We talked about our teddies and introduced them to our class. Because of the wet weather we couldn't go outside so we decided to bring the picnic inside. Teachers decorated the P.E. hall and set out blankets for our picnic. We got to eat lots of fruit and even got a special treat. We sang the song The Teddy Bear's Picnic and played lots of fun games with our teddies and friends. We had a a lot of fun and are looking forward to next year's picnic already.
